Re: Popular music

Ya know I don't wanna start anything I've been having an off day and I took it out on people who held opinions that were different than mine. While I still satnd by my opinions (I know many others who agree whole-heartedly with me) I feel I should apologize for the fact that I'm an ass. I value my opinions way too much. So do some of you, but since we share that aspect I won't blame you.

Re: Popular music

And by the way Gerald you happened to be the one who's responses I noticed the most. Don't take my verbal attacks personally, I keep forgetting that these message boards have nothing to do with our private lives. My own problems should not be taken out on intellectuals who speak their mind. My current mood made me read you responses as though they were bitter and sarcastic. With one exception that wasn't even said by you, I have been the only sarcastic one in this forum. I have been a victim of this several times and I apologize for saying such things.

Re: Popular music

Thanks for forgiving me. I respect the people on this site for the fact that they all understand each other. I can see that you are part of this group. Everyone has spoken their mind in a civil manner which I misinterpreted. Oh well I won't make the same mistakes again accept on certain occasion which I can tell won't occur on this site.

I actually thought u did make a valuable point. I don't consider rap to be music, it just sounds like horrible, awful, noise to me. And I would question the musical value in a lots of modern pop songs. But that's just me, I virtually don't like any new music, so perhaps I am not the best one to comment on this. I wasn't sure what you were getting at with that beatles/floyd comment though.

Re: Popular music

Yeah, I see rap as poetry, pop stars as performers rather than artists, and I love The Beatles but consider them to be less musically interesting than Pink Floyd.

Oi! You make us all sound like we are a bunch of scalp-hunters

Relax dude/dudette. Most of us on these here boards have no problems with opinions. We get ticked off I guess, when someone tries to impose his/her opinions on us.

We get rather ticked off if someone claims that a certain band or a certain brand of music is 'techinically better' or' superior' or 'good' over others (popularity IMHO is debateable). You may like ABCD band... wonderful. Just don't claim that ABCD is technically superior or makes better music than XYZ band.

And we get MAJORLY pissed [] is someone attacks someone else personally. Attack the post, not the person please. And keep it civil

I tend to follow a rather simple philosophy there (as in life in general) : "There's always someone better than you!"
