Question Acid Jazz, Techno, Trip Hop, Electronica

Before you bite my head off about how bad techno is...

I recognize that some of the music in these different genres are pretty bad..ok-really bad. but some of it deserves a fighting chance today as quality music. there really are some worth while artists out there.

it is hard to classify this music under one genre. some songs ive heard that are classified as "techno" are the worst songs i've ever heard with drum machine and pounding bass - terrible stuff....but some techno is genius.

this kind of music is not about manual instruments like guitar and stuff but thats not to say that these artists dont have talent is it???

next chance i get ill post some artists who i think are amazing...

if you have any suggestions, post em here.

give it a chance

Portishead? Techno? Nope.

Anyway, I love Portishead. I don't even dig the 'trip-hop' label. True, they have a DJ, but a lot of their sound is vintage (Rhoads electric pianos, Mini-Moogs, tremeloed-out, reverbed guitars).

I love 'em all the same, no matter label. Hehe.

Yeah, Portishead is pretty funky.
I quite like Fat Boy Slim and Moby as well, and who can go past Jamiroquai, who I think has a very acid jazz feel to him. Great stuff Acid Jazz is

cheers

Hehe... fancy pants? I don't deserve that title.

I consider the Chemical Brothers to be good techno - and not much else, I'm afraid.

Most of the respectable techno out there actually travels under the label of 'IDM,' meaning 'Intelligent Dance Music.'

Some f*cked up sh*t, that. That drum-beat is insane.

And don't get me started on Bolchephious (horribly botched spelling) Bouncing Ball.
