Do you want DSOT on DVD?

Personally, I don't like DSOT at all. The only positive thing about it is the inclusion of One Slip. The video is so bad! Uncomplete, out of context, strange. I don't want it to be released on DVD unless they put in WTTM or some other really interesting stuff, but I don't think they have any.

Pulse is much better, the whole show, no unnecessary editing...

However, I still think they (not the band, but the recording company) would release DSOT, because of the smell of the money... Maybe putting DSOT and Pulse together as a double DVD will solve their problem, because I'm going to buy the PULSE DVD if it comes.

So, do you want DSOT to be released on DVD?

I don't care either way although I have to say the ridiculous mullet hairdo's on show are worth a laugh.

DSOT could be much better than its original version. I think it should be released with a new cut and no editing, with full versions of Shine On and all the material they have filmed. The full concert, in other words. They have all the necessary material and much more (the Nassau concert wasn't the only one they filmed during that tour), they only need somebody to put it together in a decent way.

I'm a big fan of DSoT (it was my intro to Pink Floyd...so a bit of a "special" spot for it).

I'd buy it if it was released in DVD.

I'd also love to see more footage added.

My favorite recording of Comfortably Numb comes from DSOT. I rented the video, and they'd cut out half the solo. I was absolutely outraged with the way they cut Comfortably Numb and Shine On.

However, if released on DVD, and totally unedited and uncut, I would most CERTAINLY buy it as soon as possible.

Okay, I will make myslef clear.
I think the DSOT on VHS is awful.
Still, the double CD DSOT is a very good live recording.

The video, as is now, shouldn't be released on a DVD. UNLESS they add some extra footage OR just make it a normal uncut show like PULSE, which would be great of course.

BUT I doubt they will add the extra footage, because Dave does not like revealing the unreleased.

BUT what extras can they have on the DVD? A tour documentary? Was there any? No. The uncut, unedited footage is the only thing they can have.

BTW, I remember an interview, in which Dave said that the AUDIO tapes with material for DSOT were so long that it took him one day just to listen to it once!

So, my conclusions:

1) They will not release it, because it would be too much work for them to make it look "normal". - 50%
2) They will release it as it was on VHS and they will add some really good extras to make it be attractive to purchase. - 15%
3) They will just release it as it is with some babbling around and the sad story of a totally destroyed live video will continue. - 15%
4) They will release the original uncut source. - 10%
5) They will release it together with PULSE on a 2DVD. - 10%

What do you think?

I think that as they are supposedly working on a dvd release of Pulse, DSOT will probably be left to fester in it's own overdubs.

I love the album, especially that Comfortably Numb recording - the best performance of it i've heard.

As Pulse DVD required AGES to be completed , and it's not yet been released, I think we're not going to see the DSOT one very soon. Just in time for its 20th anniversary, maybe.

DSOT is a excellent album, i LOVE it!!!!
I bought it on tapes, LP, CD and video, but the last one (the video) was a big dissapointment to me. Just like SULACO I was very upset that they edited CN!!!!
The best thing on the video is in my opinion One Slip.
After seeing it on the video I couldn't believe why it didn't make it to the album. It's definitely my fav. track from the whole video.

Would I buy it on DVD???? It depends. If it's just a digital version of the video, no thanks. But if it's uncut, unedited and has some very nice extra's than I would buy it immediately!!!

Wouldn't it be so great??? Put the stereo at 10 and listen and watch One Slip!!!!

Yes, One Slip is the best thing on it.

for hardcore CN fans (most of us are): yes, CN on DSOT is great, but you must make the difference between the audio, which is great, and the video, which not so good and edited. That's what I'm trying to say, I don't think the whole DSOT is a pack of crap!

What about Great Gig In the Sky? (Rachel Fury...mmmmmm).

And On The Turning Away guitar solo (this time the VIDEO version is uncut...and the CD version is shorter).

And Signs of Life.

Personaly I find the video very enjoyable...it's more interesting than PULSE., and I'd prefer DSoT in DVD format.
