Re: Which one song do you reckon describes you best?

This really is a good thread. I've always identified with Rote Hoove, aatain hain sabh (Everyone comes crying/everyone has a sad story) from the movie "Muqqadar Ka Sikhandar" (Victor over fate). It's quite an awesome movie (a tragedy I might add):

Quote:
rote hue aate hain sab, hastaa huaa jo jaaegaa
vo muqaddar kaa sikandar,vo muqaddar kaa sikandar, jaaneman kahalaaegaa

vo sikandar kyaa thaa jisane zulm se jiitaa zahaan
pyaar se jiite dilon ko, vo jhukaa de aasamaa.n
jo sitaaron par kahaanii, pyaar kii likh jaaegaa
vo muqaddar kaa sikandar,vo muqaddar kaa sikandar, jaaneman kahalaaegaa

zindagii to bevafaa hai, ek din Thukaraaegii
maut mahabuubaa hai apane, saath lekar jaaegii
mar ke jiine kii adaa jo, duniyaa ko sikhalaaegaa
vo muqaddar kaa sikandar,vo muqaddar kaa sikandar, jaaneman kahalaaegaa

hamane maanaa ye zamaanaa, dard kii jaagiir hai
har kadam pe aaNsuon kii, ik naI za.njiir hai
aae din par jo, khushii ke giit gaataa jaaegaa
vo muqaddar kaa sikandar,vo muqaddar kaa sikandar, jaaneman kahalaaegaa

rote hue aate hain sab, hastaa huaa jo jaaegaa
vo muqaddar kaa sikandar,vo muqaddar kaa sikandar, jaaneman kahalaaegaa

Below is my (rather) rough translation. This is a beautiful song, and if you really grasp the language, you will understand the very depths of feeling behind this song.

Quote:
Everyone comes crying with a sad tale to tell, but he who goes away laughing,
That victor over fate, that victor over fate, will be loved by all...

Who was that hero, who kept winning against injustice?
Who kept winning hearts through love?, who touched heaven and earth,?
He who wrote love story, on the stars?,
That victor over fate, that victor over fate, will be loved by all...

Life is a tricky thing, who will decieve us one day
Death is our beloved (companion), who will accompany us one day,
He who teaches the world, the meaning of life through his death,
That victor over fate, that victor over fate, will be loved by all...

We accept that this world, is an endless series (realm) of pain,
Every step, it's nothing but chains of tears, (as in chains that bind prisoners)
But her who sings songs of happy times as the days come by,
That victor over fate, that victor over fate, will be loved by all...

Everyone comes crying with a sad tale to tell, but he who goes away laughing,
That victor over fate, that victor over fate, will be loved by all...

Of late, I have also been digging : Wearing The Inside Out - Pink Floyd (The Division bell)

Every man wants to be a macho macho man
To have the kind of body always in demand

You can best believe that he's a macho man
Ready to get down with anyone he can

Hey! Hey! Hey, hey, hey!
Macho, macho man (macho man)

Macho, macho man

Macho, macho man (dig my muscles!)

What can I say? I've got to be a macho man.

I must have missed this utterly classic reply first time around.

Yes, you do indeed rule, Byron.

Motion Picture Soundtrack- Radiohead

Bummed but it's going to have a good ending.
As long as I stay away from the wine and sleeping pills.

And the cheap sex.

Re: Which one song do you reckon describes you best?

A few months ago I would've said "High Hopes" or "Let Down"-Radiohead....but for now, I'm not sure. Hmmm, maybe "Getting In Tune"-The Who, or "No Way Out"-Peter Gabriel, or "Staring at the Sun"-U2, or even "Life Is a Long Song"-Jethro Tull. I'm not sure...

Umm, for the past couple years "In Bloom" by Nirvana. And probably "Brainstew/Jaded" or "Longview" by Greenday. I'm so ****ing bored!

can't choose one, but here's a few - in some sort of chronological order..

I Am A Rock - Simon & Garfunkel
You're Kind - Paul Simon
As I Come of Age - Crosby, Stills & Nash

& other bits & pieces from here & there..
