| Do you know if... I was wondering if The Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking and Radio KAOS were successful or maybe a flop like ATD (ATD was actually a flop, wasn't it?), and if mr Waters did tour before 1999 (except Berlin concert of course). So... do any of you knows what were the best positions P&C and R.KAOS reached in the charts and if Rog had some notable live experiences in the '91-'98 period?

| Re: Do you know if... I don't think any of Rogers' solo albums have sold particularly well and I know touring with Pro's and Cons lost him a lot of money. As to chart positions and whatnot - I haven't a clue. Helpful as ever eh? |

| Re: Do you know if... I suppose you have to define "flop" . If you are basing your question strictly on chart position, gross sales, financial success, everything Rog and Dave have done independently have been "flops". Somehow I don't think either one of these fellas approaches any project from the same point of view as , say, Michael Jackson, or The Backstreet Boys. Roger does not write songs for mass consumption, he is an artist with a very specific appeal. He knows who his audience is, and caters to that populace. Chart success, if it happens to come, is secondary to him. I happen to really enjoy ATD, I actuall like it better than KAOS. But that is just my opinion. I don't think I would go out of my way to call either one a flop though.

| Re: Do you know if... @Dr Cheese: Your help was appreciated and i'm not not joking... did he really tour in the 2nd part of the 80s...? @Byron: Thanks! Exactly what i was looking for, good job! @Fulghum: Well, Dave turned PF into a commercial band, and i think AMLOR and TDB had actually a good chart success. Rog found a compromise with ATD, the choice of the single, J.Beck, his appearances on Mtv, the Berlin concert 2 years before. For what i know, it sold far less than it was expected, that's what i meant for flop.

| Re: Do you know if... Roger DID tour with Kaos in 1987 and yes, it's been a flop. BTW Dave did NOT turn PF in a commercial band. Another Brick In The Wall did the job. And Roger hopes his stuff sells, as everyone else, nothing more, nothing less. Otherwise one doesn't release music on albums but plays it in the living room for his friends and his family.

| Re: Do you know if... PF was a "commercial success" with the release of DSOTM. Money was the chart buster followed by Time. DSOTM still holds the record for remaining on BillBoards top 100 album chart, It appeard on there in 1974, it's still there, it has never left.

| Re: Do you know if... I obviously know what they became with Dark Side. That wasn't my point. Anyway I was wrong. They did turn commercial for the first time with Arnold Layne. Year 1967.

"RW : No, I enjoyed both the Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking tour and the Kaos tour, but business was kind of thin in the mid-west, I have to say. And for those like twelve hundred people that I played to in Cincinnati on the 'Kaos' tour, I'd just like to say thank you for coming. (laughter) In a way I am serious because although it's depressing to play to twelve hundred people in a ten thousand seat hall, but to quote Henry V, 'the fewer whatnots the greater the share of glory.' And I know they all remember that night and so do I. And there was something about the kind of comraderie; of there just being a few people there because it was a great show. RB : True believers. RW : Yeah, true believers. And there was a kind a community feeling between me and them in that, particularly as I was answering questions from the hall and all that stuff that we did, Jim, on the 'Kaos' tour."

| Re: Do you know if... Nice reference Stratman, Very interesting quote. I guess what I was trying to get at is Roger (and Dave, Nick and Richard) have artistic integrity. You look at the work of PF either together or solo and you can tell they are doing what they love, and truly are inspired to make great music. Financial success is welcome, nobody wants to put their heiney on the line just to get it kicked. But I would bet that if PF was as huge as they are , or just a local bar band in some backwater of London, they would still be producing equivalent quality pieces. On the other hand , Brittnet Spears, Lil Bow Wow, all the "kids" that showed up the the MTV awards the other night, the music sucks, they're f***ing millionaires. They have "success" by fiscal and chart standards, but they are just pumping out formula pop for the great unwashed masses. Do everyone a favor , and don't hold Roger, Dave, Nick, and Richard, together or solo, to that "standard of success".

| Re: Do you know if... Also, I think a 40 year career in the music business, at the level of recognition that Roger has, should qualify for something... What eve happend to.... Gary Glitter? The Guess Who? Melanie? Donovan? Alice Cooper? Boston? Arlo Guthrie? Haven't heard a lot from those folks in, say, 20 years or so........ All contemporaries of the Original Floyd....

He was found guilty of having child pornography on a pc he sent for repair, he was also accused of child abuse but the case was dropped due to the large time span since the alleged incident took place, there was a massive media frenzy here in the UK, he served some time in jail and has since left the country and was last reported to be living in Thailand. Good riddance I say! |
