Smile tommy

Tommy is amazingly written, and I for one like both albums. Does anyone know of a showing going on in the United States of TOMMY? Also, a Who concert, or Tommy piano music? thnx

Tommy is a good album, but I would much rather listen to Who's Next. The whole thing is just kind of weird. The only songs i really like are the singles like Pinball Wizard. A lot of it is kind of spare though.

Re: The Who's Tommy: Masterpiece or Musical Nonsense?

Actually, my favorite rock opera by Townshend is now Quadrophenia. While it's rather underrated and ignored, I think it's actually superior to Tommy. While there's some good music in there, I think A Quick One (which I think is awesome) was just some experimentation, Tommy is a warm up, and Quadrophenia is the masterpiece. It's also easier to identify with the story. I was able to aquire piano music for Tommy, but it's the movie version off Ebay. check out www.thewho.net/whotabs for the guitar chords, with which one could maybe figure out the song from.

Drat!!

I was hoping this was a poll, so I could cast my vote...

which is this: Tommy is barely musical, but it is total
nonsense.

OK, Who lovers, I'm ready...lemme have it!

Re: The Who's Tommy: Masterpiece or Musical Nonsense?

I recently got both Quadrophenia and Tommy for myself. I have so say I'm extrememly impressed. I haven't quite broken them both in, but I can say I really like them. I'm fairly new to The Who myself...having started with Who's Next and Who Are You. But all I've got to say is that Tommy truely is a masterpiece...spacecadet is outta his mind.
