| Rythym Section We've talked alot about Bassists and Drummers separately...but we all know that it is the combo of the two that really makes a band rock. I was reading an interview the other day with Trevor Rabin (a one-time Yes guitarist), and he was relating how he went to see a Yes concert (with Steve Howe on guitar), and he said something like, "I can't believe I had those two guys backing me up" - referring to Alan White on drums and Chris Squire on bass. So my question to you all is - what is your favorite bass/drum combo? For me, it is (in no particular order): Geddy Lee / Neil Peart - Rush Chris Squire / Alan White - Yes Charles Meeks / James Badley, Jr - Chuck Mangione band from the late 70's and early 80's. John Paul Jones / John Bonham - Zep. ![]()

| Re: Rythym Section Whoa, great topic TF.... I'd have to agree with Peart/Lee Sly Dunbar/Robbie Shakespear: Jazz fusion session men, awesome on Kazumi Watanabi's "All Beat's are Coming". Illsley/Withers: early Dire Straits Vinnie Colaiuta/ Ike Willis/ Arthur Barrow: Frank Zappas Rythym section from '77 to '89. Moon/Entwistle...what can I say?

I just walked in the door from a RHCP concert here in Albany, NY. What a great show! Flea certainly knows his way around the bass. He and Chad do a admirable job in the rythym section dept. ![]()

Queens of the Stone Church and some no-name band. Both had lousy mixes and were way too loud (and I like my concerts loud). The mix (and volume) were fixed by the time the Chili Peppers hit the stage - thank God! ![]()

I agree with RHCP. Um...the Beck / Bogart / Appice triumverate were superb...listen to the live version of "Black Cat Moan" if you can.
