Re: Syd Barret solo albums - worth getting?

As I gaze upon my record and CD collection, discarding the thoughts about what my retirement fund would look like today if I'd put all that money into my IRA instead, I have to say that the two Syd albums I have are unique among the rest. I really like 'Madcap' and 'Barrett".

I can only imagine the kind of ire this reply is bound to bring me;
but here is a list of things I'd rather endure than any of Syd's solo work:

1. Root canal
2. Tax audit
3. Colonoscopy
4. 9,999 more posts from Gerald the Mouse
5. Pink Floyd The Wall (the movie)
6. Any rap song
7. Vacation in Iraq
8. Another Bush term as president
9. Having my balls torn out of the sack with
a large fish hook, while simultaneously swallowing
a gallon of sulphuric acid, all during an LSD overdose.
10. A David Letterman top 10 list.

But I thought Iraq was good this time of year.

I understand Saddam runs a cozy little Bed & Breakfast just on
the outskirts of Tikrit; the menu features Scorpion Scampi & Sun Roasted Ratheads.

Shades of 'Holiday in Cambodia'.

If you are an early fan of the Floyd, you will like Syd's work. Though messed up a bit, he still has a way with lyrics and guitar.
