I agree with you on both points: the Delicate Sound of Thunder version of Comfy Numb (I have always maintained) is quite extraordinary; and knopfler prolly would "outjam" Dave.

I'd still love to see them work together on something.

Geez, sorry! Whatever happened to the merits of honesty? You did read the compliments I gave to Gilmour in my post, I hope.

Steady, tbjfsu, it was a joke, mate. No offense meant.

The winking smiley , though, is generally accepted to mean "just kidding."
Welcome to the APFFN btw.

Re: Guitars duel to the death!!!

I'd LOVE to hear Mark Knopfler play the guitar solo in CN, with his own interpretation and style, of course.

Mostly, as others have said, I'd love to see them play something together. Both have collaborated so many times with other musicians, I'm surprised they haven't yet got together.

Re: Guitars duel to the death!!!

Phil Manzanera, Pete Townsend, Snowy White, B. B. King are a few of the guitar players that spring to mind with whom Dave has played.

Re: Guitars duel to the death!!!

Dave played a track with BB on King's "Dueces Wild" album.
Dave & BB played together on Jools Hootenany BBC TV program.
I have a recording of "Fatass Boogie." a live performance with Dave and BB, which may have been that BBC gig.

"One Slip" was co-written with Manzanera, a long-time friend of Dave's BTW.

Dave did a track with Snowy on White's "Melting" album.

Check this out for a complete list of Dave's collaborations with other musicians which was my original point.

BTW, On that Kirsty MacColl album (Kite) he was playing with another great guitarist -- Johnny Marr.

Re: Guitars duel to the death!!!

You're welcome.

I do have the "Melting" Album by Snowy & The White Flames. I like it. Snowy's vocals can't compare with his guitar skills, but he does OK. The song featuring Dave called "Love, Pain and Sorrow" is my favorite track.
