Question The Wall in Berlin DVD

I've tried the search button, but it didn't show me any similar thread.

I'd like to ask you what do you think about this most recent release by the band/members.

I know it's maybe too early for the USA purchasers, but I was lucky to find this DVD with 15% sale this week.

I've seen the original VHS and I quite liked the architecture/projected images, but I didn't like some of the artists chosen for the songs, most notably that girl in ABITW2, although the teacher was great.

I think the DVD movie is exactly the same as the VHS. True or false?

The documentary is interesting and the stills are nice. Overall, it was a good purchase for me, considering that there is no complete footage from the original Wall concerts.

The VHS sucks, so unless there is an easter egg of an entire 1967 concert somewhere on the DVD, I won't be buying it.

I really can't say it was BAD. The DVD really is pretty good. Most of the performers do okay. Joni Mitchell and Ute Lemper are the exceptions, I didn't think they were very good. Paul Carrack was pretty good, but I think he fit well anyhow (since he's worked with Roger before in '87 with KAOS). I wasn't too impressed with Rick DiFonzo on guitar; I'm much more partial to Snowy. It was cool though to see Snowy, Graham Broad, and especially Andy Fairweather Low (WITH hair!!!) on this DVD since I owned the ITF concert first before owning this.

In any case, I think this is a DVD/VHS/album for hardcore Waters fans only. If you don't like KAOS, you won't like this. This is Pink Floyd The Wall Live meets the 80s production style of Radio KAOS.

Each to their own I suppose. I thought the live in Berlin thing was unremittingly awful.

I inexplicably bought the CD's, even after listening to the broadcast live on the radio, knowing how lame it was. Go figure.
I won't compound the mistake by getting the DVD.

Hmm, I own the VHS and am contemplating buying the DVD only for Snowy's amazing performance.

I think he looks better without hair. Agree with you all about Snowy - he plays some of his best. But Rick DiFonzo is not that bad. He's no Doyle Bramhall, but still... does anyone know what is he doing except for his work with Roger in Berlin and on Amused To Death?

Di Fonzo? No idea. I'd never heard of him before Roger. To tell you the truth, up until you just mentioned it, I complete forgot he had anything to do with Amused To Death (what was it? Perfect Sense part 2?) so I really don't know.

On a side note, since this thread is about Live In Berlin, anyone know the deal with this 'newly remastered' Berlin double CD that Amazon.com is offering? I currently own the original double CD (the one with the bricks on the cover) and I'm wondering whether this new one sounds any better. Personally, I don't see how it could because the original CD was recorded digitally in the first place. So the remaster would be what? The exact same sound quality with a bit more volume maybe?

Yes. But the company says it's a remaster so you'll have to buy it in order to gain the same sound experience one more time.

LOL Under normal circumstances... I would be a stupid sheep and go out and buy it again.

However, in this case, I own the DVD which is the same art, packaging and everything as the remaster CD so I think I'll save my 30 bucks this time.
