Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

I saw Porcupine Tree in New York, it was excellent. They have quickly become one of my favorite groups. Hopefully they play Glass Arm Shattering on the next tour though.

What pre-In Absentia albums are the best? I still don't have many of them.

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

Well "Stupid Dream" and "Lightbulb Sun" are essential, but unfortuantly they are out of print. I would recommend waiting for the rereleases (which we've been promised for quite a while now), unless you are one of the lucky few to catch the on Amazon when they get a small amount in stock from time to time. Otherwise you run the risk of paying big $$ for a shoddy Russian bootleg copy.

Other than that, you'll be getting into unfamiliar territory. "In Absentia" was quite a direction change. I would recommend the newly rereleased "Up The Downstair" or "Signify". They're both excellent, but much less lyrically oriented than IA and DW.

Words can't express how much I love "Signify". Nearly every song is fab.

I just can't seem to get "Dark Matter" out of my head....

I have a Napster card I need to use up. I'm gonna download those two songs and see what happens.

The closing solo/piece to "Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled" is ace!

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

"Signify" (the song) is even better live! (Get "Coma Divine" or "Warzawa")

The first pressing of the Stupid Dream re-release has sold out already, mine should be arriving in the next day or two. They are now taking pre-orders for the second pressing which is released on 29th may. I shall be up early to catch the postman this week

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

Lucky! I held off pre-ordering it until late, and ended up missing out on the first batch. It should be quite a nice album to have...it comes with a 5.1 mix that should be incredible.
