Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

It surprises me that they're playing the Twilight here in Tampa. It's not as big a venue as I imagined them filling up.

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

They are not so popular, but with Opeth, yeah, they will fill up. If you can, get your hands on In Absentia or Stupid Dream and check them out.

Thier early stuff is more prog, but they will be playing more from thier last few albums i'd imagine.

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

Haha thanks Lej. Yeah, I caught them on their recent tour, over in Boulder. They played in a small venue that could hold about 600. My friends and I managed to get about 10 feet from the stage. Man, was that an amazing show. Best live music I've ever seen. Some of the most talented musicians in modern music, no doubt. I knew Steven Wilson was a good guitar player, but man can he tear it up. He did some amazing improv solos. Also, their somewhat new drummer, Gavin Harrison, was spot on, never missing a beat; quite a powerful driving force. Now I know why he's called the drum world's "best kept secret." Now that I think of it, they were all very impressive.

Before the concert, they had an instore signing, where I got a live album signed. There were plans for them to do an acoustic set, but Steven (he sings as well) was having throat issues, and had to save it for the show. I was a bit dissappointed, but I can't complain. You could tell he was having a rough time the first few songs, but his voice came back and it was great.

They also announced plans for another US tour in October...you'd better believe I'll be going again!

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

Nice.. that sounds like fun.. I hate it when bands double up on US shows in one year, TMV are doing it too *cries* I just want them to come to Australia, is that so much to ask for?

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

How many times do I have to tell you? You know more people in Australia die every year from accidentally swallowing a christmas tree light than from lethal snake bites.. and lethal bug bites are at an even smaller level.. seriously.. it's maybe like 3 people a year die because of some animal or other (more likely sharks than bugs or snakes). It's really not that much for a whole bloody continent. You all just need to bloody get over it!

Re: Porcupine Tree tour dates

of course it's gonna bite you if you do that.. the problem with snake bites is that idiots provoke them.. While we're on the topic of things Australian.. Russel Crowe's been arrested. I think this is about the time we admit he's actually a kiwi.

Yeah! I saw a T.V. program ( National Geographic ) about Australian animals. I remember that kangaroos attacking people too. And magpies? They don't like cycle men!
