It was recorded in the Summer of 1970, maybe simultanneously with the orchestration of Atom Heart Mother. I think Ron persuaded Roger to help him with this soundtrack for a TV documentary (the only soundtrack from a non-music TV documentary I know that has been released on CD).
Ron Geesin remains avantagarde in his tracks, while Roger adds some nice acoustic numbers in the style of "If". The last song has the whole Pink Floyd on it together with some singing lady. Anyone knows what's her name?

Iv'e just bought it but it hasn't arrived yet,I heard somewhere that ron geesin was roger waters golfing partner and it was ron geesins idea for roger to help and that was bedfore he new about the floyd, and ron geesin had the idea of adding strange sound affects but wasn't really that inmterested in writing the songs, roger helped write 8 of the songs and ron geesin retured the favour by helping with AHM

Id like to know what kind of early 70s keyboard they were using during that album.
I know Waters like to fiddle with them.

Of course, writing "solo" I meant "without Pink Floyd". Ron Geesin's work here is extremely important and excellent.
Anyway, I wasn't joking - I really DO think it's an amazing piece of music, sounds very modern and still a bit shocking, but I can find a lot of "followers" - check out some Mike Patton's solo stuff (for Tzadik or Ipecac records), Masami Akita, all sorts of Audio Art music... But these experimental songs by Geesin and Waters are much better and much more uncompromising.
More "classical" songs by Geesin are no worse than "Atom Heart Mother", only... shorter )
And these acoustic songs by Roger are just beautiful, among best ballads he's written...

Well as far as I know, Mr. Wright was relitivly new to synthisysers at this stage, he had gotten his first one only a year or two previosly, and they originally didn't know exactly how to use it, so they used to tune it up and down according to what note they wanted it to play. Im not sure if this is the case for this album, though.

I would be bold enough to suggest that MFTB is the best Pink Floyd album ever. Or it would be without AHM and More.

OK, it wasn´t floyd album, but I wish it would have been, then it would not be so underrated. Well, I´m one sick bastard anyway, but I think that late 60`s/early 70`s was the peak for PF. OK, now you can kill me...
