Ya, umm, the new guitar player thread

I looked for this thread, but I can't find it, so if it's a duplicate, I'm am really sorry. Please don't kill me

I am planing on learning guitar, and I would like to it if some of you guitar players out there would tell me the best place to start.(not counting taking lessons, I don't handle that well) Any advice you can give would be greatly apreiciated!

You can find plenty of good self-instruction books, and loads of good internet guitar sites with lessons, etc.
