Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

My thought:
I download songs only to test out artist to see if I should buy a CD, but I think it is important to buy the CD's to see the full picture, I could care less if the singer gets his money...they are already millionaires...people seem to have no problem with checking books out of the library, but then they see Kazaa start protests, it's like, what the hell. But it is better to have the CD especially for Pink Floyd for obvious reasons, this is why I buy all of my CD's, but download just to test.

Red face Re: Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

I haven't used programs like Kazzak for about 2 years, I don't give a hell about giving the artists credit either...but it's better to have the CD--I like looking at the booklets, and sometimes when it's a concept album it won't work to DOWNLOAD songs.

(I'll bet you that someone who has been on this forum for a while is going to come bash you for posting a topic that probably has already be covered)

Anyway..I voted for 'I don't use it, you LOSERS!'

Re: Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

I use WinMx, mostly for "testing" reasons. I want to have the real thing if I really like it, it's a matter of quality. I may add that often I take this or that song because I would NEVER want the whole album. BUT I think these programs are really great for RoIOs, I've downloaded lots of rare and live stuff.

I use WinMX too, but so many people here don't know it! It is probarly the most annoying though because most songs are on a 100 queue. It really annoys me, though, sometimes you can get some good downloads

Now that the most Holy and Revered Audiogalaxy has gone to that great file-sharing network in the sky I use WinMX, KaZaALite and Furthernet, mostly for rare and live stuff and stuff I quite like but not enough to spend any cash on.

Re: Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

Well, sometimes when I am going to a concert and I come across the Set-List and realize I only know TWO songs, I might download them in a hurry! But of course, I would eventually buy the CD.

I generally use Kazaa just to download some singles I've heard and liked. Nothing more. No testing.

Re: Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

i use WINMX with a patch of NAPMX to add hundreds of extra servers to download from.
i burn alot of cds but, at least 85% of my cd inventory is store bought stuff. Im sure that there would be alot of cds that i would have not purchaced, if i didnt sample them first............

Re: Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, whatever...

I use Kazaa myself, love the pop-ups<insert sarcasm here>. Anyway, I do buy alot of cd's still, just from the artists I like alot, even though I've gotten some discs that just suck from them too, but to be honest, I think given the state of music today, it's better than wasting 15-18 bucks on one song. Also, I have alot of rare songs so...yeah.

Get the latest version of Kazaalite called K-Lite, there's no popups (or bullshit spyware either).
