wish you were here-quadraphonic

I will be thankful to whoever may tell me if there was, at the time of release, 1975, a vinyl quadraphonic edition of the album wish you were here. If so, does anybody has a copy on cd or mp3? willing to trade or buy. Thanks.

A quad version did come out when the record was first released (on Columbia's special quad red label, on the SQ quad system). They are generally rare now.

There is a Roio (or bootleg) of the quad mix, which comprised of two CDs - the first consisted of the front two channels, and second completing it by providing the rear two channels. The maker of this tried to pass each disc off as a different stereo mix, but it is indeed the quad mix. One synchs up two CD players to get the quad effect.

Anyway, I can't remember the title of it, and the Pink Floyd Roio Database site seems to be down, so you're out of luck there. Sorry.

I've got a couple of these Quad WYWH's and they're surprisingly easy to get hold of. Go to any record fair and they'll be kicking about... I'm afraid I can't remember what I paid, but they're relatively inexpensive.

There are always quad LPs on Ebay. Though I suggest getting a DTS encoded disc. You'll have to trade for that, though if you are really desperate, there are occasionally someone selling a copy on Ebay.

But I've just bought two new speakers, all set for the quad experience.

Damn!

Actually, I was wondering why a radio station would broadcast a "Quad" mix when they can only send in stereo and indeed our radios can only receive in stereo?

Re: wish you were here-quadraphonic

Old thread I know, but can anyone help me with a copy of the BBC broadcast of WYWH?

I joined this forum just respond to this threadto respond about the Freeman broadcast of WYWH. I am in Australia, but I know someone in the UK who is looking for this. He wants to extract the surround sound and convert it to DVD. Apparently the mix is different to the commercial quad releases.
