Re: A Pillow Of Winds

A Pillow Of Winds is indeed a great Pink Floyd track. On the Animals V Meddle thread I came out in support of Meddle largely because it had tracks like this, which to me represents the definitive Pink Floyd sound, and which they had ditched by the time they reached Animals.

The Pink Floyd sound represented by tracks like Meddle is why I like the band, and why I am more keen on their pre Animals work. I would much rather hear A Pillow Of Winds than most of Roger Waters pseudo tortured artist rantings, which besides being cringe inducing to listen too, is just not very good musically.

I counted two acoustics, actually. Listen closely.

Shine On: you're probably right. That makes it even harder.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

Actually, I like it a lot better than Fearless. Besides Seamus, Fearless is my least faovrite on the CD. My order goes:

1. Echoes
2. San Tropez
3. A Pillow of Winds
4. One of These Days
5. Fearless
6. Seamus

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

I love a pillow of winds. I'm trying to work out an awesome mix cd to burn, from existing cd's i own...Im pretty sure A pillow of winds will be the 2nd song... i think the first song on a mix cd should be in your face and the 2nd should immediately bring everything down, then slowly build up from there. but yea a pillow the winds is such a great mellow song. I also like it better than fearless.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

'Meddle' is deafinitley one of Floyd's master worx

'Pillow of Winds' - excellent track
+ 'Echoes' the apex of everything the band ever did (IMO)

Besides One of These Days and Echoes, I don't much care for the album.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

Fearless is pretty much the only lame song on the album. That whole crowd chanting thing at the end doesn't make much sense either.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

I think the whole album overall is very good. The only song I really don't like is Seamus, and thats nice and short. I do however completely disagree with people who say Meddle is when the band was at the height of their creativity or that it is simply their best album. Because just face it, its not.

After Echoes, Fearless is my favourite song on the album.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

I find Pillow of Winds to be one of the Floyd's most underrated songs ever. The case is the same with Fearless. Of course, anything looks like rubbish, it seems, next a masterpiece like Echoes. But this is a great song. No doubt about it. I could go to sleep to it, so the atmosphere aimed at with this song is certainly achieved. It's gained my respect.
