Re: A Pillow Of Winds

Hello greatgig welcome. Actually everytime I listen to this song when I'm trying to fell asleep it wakes me up, because I must concentrate on listening to it for I like it that much. I'd rather fell asleep during One Of These Days than this one. But Sysyphus would force me to switch on the light and check the ghosts under my bed.

The interlude on Echoes with the albatross makes me check my closet for seagulls

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Not to disregard the other songs, but from that lot mentioned, I like Echoes best...(but I dunno why I prefer it on Live at Pompeii, hmm...odd)

Live versions of all songs from PF's live repertiore around 1971 are much more powerful than the studio versions (OOTD, CWTAE, Fat Old Sun, Cymbaline, Embryo...). That's why people prefer Pompeii versions against the originals. Still, Echoes on live bootlegs is even better than in Pompeii, but not that good technically of course.

This is why I like Meddle so much. Even the throw-aways are gorgeous.

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

Gets a 10/10 from me.

I've noticed that burried in between the louder One of These Days and Echoes is some of the most soft, peaceful, and relaxing music Pink Floyd ever recorded. Even the "rocker" of the bunch, Fearless is as soft as a so-called "rocker" can be.

...and what's with the Fearless bashing, dammit?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think I've seen a picture from The Wall tour with Nick holding a guitar on "Outside The Wall".

Re: A Pillow Of Winds

Correct! I think Rick is playing an accordion, too!
