A Pillow Of Winds

Well, maybe you consider this song to be a filler standing behind the monumental Echoes and One Of These Days and Fearless. When I first heard this song, I thought it's pretty similar to Green Is The Colour, Crying Song and Fat Old Sun. But in the last days, I started to like it a lot. It sounds extremely sad for me. Does anyone have any ideas on any deeper meaning of the lyrics. To me, it sounds just like a poetic describing of going to sleep/waking up. I don't know, I just can't cope with the thought that it is only a filler.

As far as I can tell the lyrics simply describe a person drifting off into sleep, then the night outside, and finally the rising sun. I doubt there's any deeper meanings, it's just beautiful poetry and that's fine with me

But where the hell did you get the idea that people regard this as filler?!?! I love this song, and as far as I know all Floyd fans do!

Well, the band haven't played it live and I've read lots of reviews where this song is described as a filler. But in my opinion, it's great.

They've never played it live because they'd either need 4 extra guitarists or Dave would have to grow some extra arms.

Botley: you're right, there's a slide guitar, acoustic guitar and another solo guitar. Maybe Nick could play the second guitar there's almost no percussion until the very end. No really, Nick probably doesn't play guitar.

He could play some of the basic rhythm picking... and he'd only need to occasionally tap the hi-hat with his foot. Plus Rick could play bass and organ simultaneously (e.g. If)... leaving Roger and Dave to split the difference. Hm.

I don't think the extra guitar parts would be too much of a problem, good bands always find ways to make up for what they can't play from studio tracks.

It probably could have pulled off live, roughly but pulled off nonetheless. Its one of my favorite floyd songs, probably one of the most underrated.
