Talking College Folk

Hey, how many of you are in college, if you are, what college are you going to, what are you studying, what classes are you taking this year, and such and such.

I'll be 17 next year, but i'm going to college a little bit early, starting next fall. I'm taking a few summer classes in a college right now, and jeez it's so overrated! Not hard at all, people saying, "one hour of college is 3 hours of homework," that is so false! This is so much eaisier than high school was.

Next fall and right now, I am at a little community college, after two years of this, I will probably transfer to a UC college. Many people say that the UC system sucks, but i'm interested in going to eithier, UC Riverside, UC Irvine or UC San Diego.

Re: College Folk

College is so much easier than high school was, for the most part. A few classes can be tough, but most are easy.

Anyway, I'm going to be starting my sophomore year at college this fall. I go to Fairmont State College, and I'm an art education K-12 major.

This coming semester, I think I'm taking Psych, a couple painting classes, and English class, and Speech Comm. I know there's another class, but I can't remember what it is.

For me, the worst part about college is really living in the dorm. But it's all part of the 'college experience', I suppose. And, of course, the Dining Hall.

College is pretty cool, and I can't say how much I love living away from my parents. I'm actually looking forward to going back in August.

I'm going to the great University at Buffalo (a.k.a. UB), a part of the State University of New York (a.k.a. SUNY). I am studying to be a Nurse (snicker at your own peril ) Technically, I am supposed to be a Junior, if I'd stuck to my old major of BioTechnology, but as I switched, I lost a year and thus I am a Sophomore this year.

Comming Fall I'll be doing courses in Nursing, Abnormal Psychology, Ethics, Anatomy/Biochemical Pharmacology, Sociology and a course in English.

That's always the impression one gets. But I've found much truth in those statements. Call me a "slow learner" or whatever but there is definitely requirement for about that much effort to be put into college if you need 4.0 and a sum cumma laude tag with your degree. Specially in courses in your Senior year and such WILL be tricky. For example, my Senior year 2nd semester, my requirement is that I need to do only 12 credits, and since all along before this I'll be doing about 16 credits a semester; you'd figure that this would be a piece of cake, right? WRONG! It looks like 12 but feels like a 19! Kapish?

You are doing the smart thing by doing your Gen. Ed. from a cheaper community college. Saves money, a heck of a lot of money. Just make sure your grades are good and that the college you end up going to recognises/accepts these courses and gives you due credit for them

Edit #1: Oh yeah! Dorm life sucks! There is no greater fun than living off-campus with the people you want! You get privacy and you can do whatever you want in your own house, without having to bother about RAs and the like

Plus, all those bars and the like are in real close proximity (usually) and you get to be on good terms with the bouncers who will look the other way when you walk in

There's your reason. Community colleges (or, as they used to be known, 'junior colleges') have fewer requirements for faculty members (as far as degrees and experience goes), have no reason to maintain a high retention rate, and various things like that, plus their entire purpose is to help students get credits Out Of The Way. All of this adds up to fairly low academic intensity as pertains to topical difficulty. Wait until you get to upper-level UCSD courses or such; then you shall know the power of work.

Re: College Folk

I catch on to things pretty quickly so my GPA is a 4.0 right now, and at the rate things are looking, it's going to stay at a 4.0.

Re: College Folk

Yeah it's all really easy and such, but a 4.0 is still a 4.0, and it looks pretty.

Re: College Folk

It's people like you that ruin any sort of potential or dreams. You judge everything, despite the fact that you don’t have the credibility to judge it.

****ing peons.

Re: College Folk

Huh? What did I judge? I'm just saying a 4.0 is pretty, and it is!

What does credibility have to do with ability to judge?
