Best version of Echoes is the BBC session version from the 'Atom Heart Mother Goes on the Road' bootleg, and my personal favourite STCFTHOTS is from the Pepperland, 17th October 1970...

Pompeii for set the controls, Floyd have played it and played it until it sounds perfect, it sits with the visuals superbly.

Echoes - hmm, probably the original version, it's a song that relies on timing and the best way to combat this is in the studio.
Vocally it's one of Floyd's softest tracks and dave's voice is often a little too raw live.

I heard a polished live version of 'Atom' on a rare VCD which seems superb, but the sound and picture of the VCD is awful though. Dave performs the vocal harmony in the place of the female choir singer, seems very ghostly, brr, then all the band come in with harmonies when the tempo picks up (Floyd at there best again!). I'd like to hear a good quality recording of this song.

I love the "Echoes" on Meddler. The boot from London 1971, possibly the same one mentioned a coupe posts ago. That's one of my favourite pf guitar songs and Dave excels in that version.

my favourite version of stcfthots is pompeii, and echoes would be the version from the westwood one superstars in concert from 1970, i think it's the same as the one from atom heart mother goes on the road, and meddler.

My pick for STCFTHOTS is the Ummagumma version, and the Meddle version of Echoes.

BTW, I've read somewhere that STCFTHOTS is the first ever song that Waters had written. Any ideas?
