Re: Another Damn Poll

DSoT version - David's guitar work is absolutely perfect. I don't get the comments about the keyboard mix - it sounds OK to me. Maybe, to paraphrase Roger, 'you've got a bad cut'.

Re: Another Damn Poll

No, the whole DSOT album was recorded really badly through crappy equipment and mixed VERY hastily. Dave has since apologized for this.

Re: Another Damn Poll

I've bought DSOT 2CD today (mint quality from a second hand, one disc price) to replace my old copy on cassette hidden somewhere. The horns in SOYCD are really strange, but it's still okay for me. The version of Time is 10 times better than on Pulse, so are other songs, including CN. Too bad DSOT doesn't have WTTM, Great Gig, One Slip and better production. It would be a pretty good live album. Much better than PULSE with its dull 150 minutes. And they didn't include Poles Apart, Marooned and One Of These Days, all songs played in very good versions. at least there is also no Take It Back.

Re: Another Damn Poll

You forgot the "storm" version. Though it's just extra sound effects. I chose Echoes, just because that's the version that I was introduced to first. I bought the album later. It was only until after I traded for a DTS disc of the Quad version that I heard parts 9 and 10, and I must say, part 9 is pretty cool. Seems like Floyd's gotta have a jam somewhere on every album! I also think that while the PULSE version is nice, Dave's voice isn't.

Re: Another Damn Poll

The "storm" version is unedited. And fake.

Re: Another Damn Poll

I dont like the solo on "in the flesh" version. I doest sounds like david style, its almost like an Albert King solo, i think that solo does't fit with the song style.

I liked very much the dave's latest version.

Those songs weren't written when DSOT was released! Or were you talking about Pulse there??

Re: Another Damn Poll

I've noticed that when Wish you were here ends (on in the flesh) Roger said something like "I wish they were here". Is that what he said, somebody has notice ?

Re: Another Damn Poll

There's a bit of controversey about what he exactly said. To me it sounds like "They wish they were here" but others have said otherwise.

Re: Another Damn Poll

I think (although I can't swear to this) that what he says is "How I wish they were here." And when asked in an interview, he said this referred to all the people he'd missed in his life (like his father and Syd Barrett)...definitely not PF, anyway.

Re: Another Damn Poll

I remember seeing the footage in the backround, and thinking that it might be a reference to Pink Floyd...maybe a longing of some sort. I did think he said "they". I'll have to take a closer listen...will be reporting back soon.
