Re: Monty Python

I like Michael Palin the most. Has anyone seen The Rutles? and The Ripping Yarns? I love that one about the football match.

Re: Monty Python

I think Monty Python is pretty creative humour, better than a lot of the unimaginative stuff around. So much of it is parody and satire and that's what a lot of people just don't get.

Re: Monty Python

Wah! I love Monty Python!! I must've seen my Flying Circus tapes about too many times to remember. I think I know them by heart now.
But Holy Grail was just too much. My fave comedy movie, right there.

As for comedy groups, Kids in the Hall ('Im crushing your head!')would be second. I catch the reruns everyday through cable.

In 3rd place, I like Les Lutiers, but they're from Argentina, so it's kinda difficult to get their material.

Another TV show I laugh a lot to, is 'Whose Line is it anyway'. Impro can be risky, but they pull it all too well.

Re: Monty Python

I think that Cleese was probably the most naturally gifted of the Monty Python crew. I mean what could top Faulty Towers other than Python?

I must make another exception for the creative forces behind South Park, although that point may be a bit controversial.

Re: Monty Python

I think South Park can be very funny.

And I like the older Whose Line Is It Anyway's as opposed to the newer ones. Drew Carey should stick to his own sitcom.

Re: Monty Python

The humor of Monty Python can be appriciated on multiple levels, on the surface it seems to be merely mapcap zanieness (and even on that level its brilliant) but deeper you can find some biting satire.

Of course most of it is wonderfully, and unapologeticly silly. That's why its so brilliant. Like all great humor its the sheer unexpectedness of some of the routines and the nigh- insane way people behave. It's not supposed to be complex, its supposed to be funny and it succeeds wonderfully.
