Monty Python

In terms of senseless comedy, is it beatable? Monty Python is hysterical in my opinion. The shows were great, Holy Grail was great, Life of Brian is great, And now for something completly different was good. Some of the things they may make fun of or say may go "over your head," but I still think there isn't many comedians or groups like that that have matched them. Does anyone else share my opinion?

I do. Maybe the funniest most creative troupe ever.

Re: Monty Python

You didn't even mention The Meaning of Life. Their comic is pure genious. I have yet to find anything as funny as Monty Python. In fact, after watching as much Monty Python as I have, nearly all other comedians/groups are just lame in comparison - IMHO (well, except for maybe Spinal Tap, but you get my point). Thanks to my enjoyment of Monty Python, I see comedy in nearly all daily life. Unfortunately, there are very few who with which I can share the joke due to the complexities of such humor.

Re: Monty Python

Lord knows the ideas behind 'a man pretends that a parrot isn't dead' are terribly complex.

Re: Monty Python

There's so much more to it than that.

Re: Monty Python

'So in this scene, because of standard chaos v. superstring debate, we're going to find the reciprocal of such classic performances as "The Fiddler on the Roof" & c. and multiply by the coefficient. Such results being garnered, we will then proceed to Article IV.3, which deals with the aforementioned sublimation of disseminating advertising campaigns from the 1940s. Therefore, at the end, John will be doing what we call, in Newton's term, a "silly walk." Did everyone bring a calculator?'

Re: Monty Python

You see, now that's what I'm all about. Sometimes I get like that at work, but I'm really serious and a lot of people try to hard to think about what I'm saying and they just don't get it. There's one in every crowd, though.

Re: Monty Python

IMHO, John Cleese is the funniest man alive today....

My kids just bought me the boxed set, complete collection of Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD for fathers day. I've been watching about three disc a week to get through them.. They are delightful....I'm loving every minute of it......

Re: Monty Python

A good majority of Monty Python is brilliant, yes. I also think the Kids In The Hall are worthy of mention as far as comedy troupes go. Canadian, gay, and funny.
