Re: The Violence Sequence

The Violent Sequence was intended for the soundtrack to the Film: Zabriskie Point. The director Antonio loved, then later on he did not want to use it. It is an early Version or Us & Them(or at leat the piano squence).

Re: The Violence Sequence

Alf, the live version you have is part of a medley the Floyd played a few times in 1970 and then dropped (yep, the medley includes Moonhead). You're very lucky to have it, as those shows are pretty hard to come by. A studio version can be heard on the Ultimate Zabriskie Point bootleg, which has two CDs full of a whole bunch of stuff the Floyd recorded but Antonioni rejected.

Re: The Violence Sequence

The full medley includes Heart Beat Pig Meat (from ZP soundtrack), keyboard improvisations (similar to Love Scene from ZP full soundtrack), Moonhead (from BBC Moon landing documentary) and the instrumental version of Us And Them which was the original Violence Sequence recorded for the movie and rejected by Antonioni. Anyone has any idea why the studio version of this song was not released on the expanded ZP soundtrack?

Re: The Violence Sequence

It was probably vetoed by the band. Get the bootleg... two CDs full of nothing but excellent Floyd tracks from this over-looked and under-regarded era of the band (1969, early 1970).

Re: The Violence Sequence

You mean that there is a studio version of early Us And Them from 1970?

Re: The Violence Sequence

Yes... the Violent Sequence. Just Rick on solo piano for six minutes... it's on the first disc of the Ultimate Zabriskie Point bootleg.
