Radiohead sucks!!!!! Plain and simple!!!! Get over it!!! OK...they did have one song that I liked (Paranoid Android). But even at the mere thought of placing them on the same level as Pink Floyd is utterly pathetic. There will never, ever be a band to compare with Pink Floyd; or with other greats such as Zeppelin and G' Dead. To think so is a travesty and takes away from blood, sweat and tears that gave these bands their legacy. In fact, you really can't compare any newer bands with the ones of old. All of the older bands had their own distinct sound; Pink Floyd just happened to be probably the most distinct sounding band of that era. Newer bands tend to sound alike and their originality is lacking. Granted, Radiohead does sound different than the others! But, just because they sound different doesn't make them good...especially to be placed on the same level as Floyd.....ackkkkkkkk!!!

Floyd, the Dead and Zeppelin all sounded like whatever other crap was going on at the time when they came on the scene. It was later that they got their good stuff out. Give new bands some time to progress. Frankie says Relax.

You know, I don't even mind Radiohead now, I don't like them; ot even that, I think I even dis-like them...still, I realized I have their 3 first albums (Pablo Honey, The Bends -which I thought was very good at the moment- and OK Computer -which I also worshipped a the moment-), and even a few singles (from all three albums), and I really don't know why I came to have so much from them, now... ...I must've been really hooked, or looking for something deep...luckyly, I found the Floyd (and through Syd's work!) So now I need look no more. I was lost but now I'm found.

The saying stating that 'Radiohead is the new Pink Floyd' is done in either error or ignorance. The only real similarity between PF and Radiohead is that they were unique bands in their times. The music is, of course, nearly nothing alike. I find it shocking to read that the maker of this thread (josailor) believes that Radiohead's music resembles other modern music. I, for the life of me, cannot find any modern band whose music resembles Radiohead's. Radiohead (in these times) is original to themselves. And who are you to state that Radiohead is scum? Additionally, while we are stating opinions here, I think the Dead suck. And while Led Zeppelin had some catchy riffs, they are nothing to write home about either. I suppose it's all about opinions, isn't it?

Well, he might not like Radiohead, which is his peragotive, but I wonder if he even listened to them. Plus, there are several other threads on this subject, stick to them, please.

I think the reason they compare them is because they are both very experimental bands, trying new things and such. If Radiohead sounded exactly like P/F and music didn't go anywhere then it would be boring, but i've said this before so go check out one of the other similar threads with discussions on similar things.

IN MY OPINION....YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE !! Radiohead Rules the new age Air waves, Just like Floyd did in their heyday !! That's the only comparison I can make to either of their music !! that's my 2c............oops I dropped it, and now it went down the drain !! Last edited by yandhi; 07-03-2003 at 12:36 AM.

Listen to Ok Computer and Kid A before you go off saying that they sound like all other bands, they are pretty unique. Most people that critisize Radiohead have only heard, 'Creep' or 'Karma Police' which are good IMO, but not thier best! |

Radiohead to me basically seem to be a prog. rock band, as were Pink Floyd in the early days. As far as I can tell, they are the only similarities. Having said that I haven't heard much Radiohead.

Zeppelin did some fairly interesting stuff rhythmically (re: the end of Stairway to Heaven, in which the guitar slows continually and the rest of the band maintains previous tempo). They could rock fairly well, too. Suffered a bit from rock-god syndrome.
