Are you sure you want to?...not that they're bad, but some people -not me- may find Rick's stuff boring...but if you really like the things he did for early Floyd, you might enjoy his solo work. I've only listened to bits of Broken China, though. But since Wet Dreams was much earlier, it might sound more like his earlier work, but I really dunno what I'm saying...guys?

Both Wet Dream and Broken China are highly recommended. WD is a relaxing album, with excellent saxophone parts performed by Mel Collins, a good mix of songs and instrumentals in the classical floydian 70s dreamy mood. Similar to songs like Stay or Wearing The Inside Out. BC is more ambitious, more experimental sounds but a lot of extremely enjoyable moments. It's basically a concept album about clinical depression and IMO it's one of the best albums by solo Floyds... possibly THE best actually. Obviously it's all down to personal taste but if you like Wright's stuff on band works you are going to love both albums.

Well, good for you! I just have to wonder how good is he when it comes to concept. Like, does his work for this album sustain itself in its own right, or is it just a mishmash of songs, put together just because they were there?

It's an excellent concept album IMO. And I quite like the lyrics by Anthony Moore, which is a talented writer. And frankly, I don't give a f*ck if Rick didn't write lyrics himself: he's an excellent musician (and after all it's HIS concept anyway) who choose to work with a good writer. He knows his limits and that's good. That's also what Roger never understood about himself, he's a very talented writer who had the luck to work with two great musicians... This cooperation and cohesive team work was the force of Pink Floyd of the golden age. Last edited by mad yannis; 08-07-2003 at 04:52 AM.

I know I'll upset all you die-hard Rick fans, but crikey, those albums are a load of old pony (and trap = crap). Save your money.
