Who is more Commercial RW or DG?

Who do you believe is more commercial while in Pink Floyd, Roger Waters or David Gilmour?

Good try, but this is still the old "wich one's pink" debate. If it isn't, I think it's a stupid question (sorry mate, no offence meant). Both of them are "responsible" (is it a crime?) for a number of hit (or not-so-hit) singles, ABITW part 2, Money, Not Now John, Take It Back, Learning To Fly... All of them are "commercial" (at least for Floyd standard) songs, but I ask again, is it a crime? That's why I think it's a stupid question actually... and after all the most commercial one was probably good old Syd Barrett.

Yeah. You're right mad yannis. Syd was a pop star chart-oriented songwriter.

I'm not asking or implying that it is a good or bad thing, all I was wondering was who people believe was more commercial, I know they both did some commercial things like you mentioned, I was wondering who you thought did this to a greater degree. I have read some comments by people on this site, some people say that Gilmour was more mainstream, which i think is debatable, that's why i asked the question. I realised that Syd was more commercial, that's why i didn't include him in the question, he would've taken the cake.

I don't know really whether it's Dave or Roger. I don't care as far as they don't start releasing another trend conforming albums like KAOS or Momentary Lapse Of Reason. They continue in their own styles right now (Gilmour's DVD and FF/ESC).

to me the most commercial stuff the boys have done is the 80s solo work
i.e. Water's 'Pros & Cons of HH' song + DG's 'Blue Light'

Blue Light is an extreme, but the rest of the album is rather good (Let's Get Metaphysical, You Know I'm Right, Near The End...)

Right now, nobody is commercial, because they aren't doing anything to get more money from us, fans.
