Eric Clapton

I just got a few of Clapton's live DVDs...and I gotta say "River of Tears" has just stormed its way onto my all-time-favourite list.

The guy deserves his "legend" status.

Slowhand goes far beyond Legend My friend.

In the late 60's early 70's folks showed up at Cream and Blind Faith concerts bearing banners stating "Clapton is God"...they weren't too far from wrong.

EC was, is and will always be a major influence on my playing. I'd say it's pretty evenly split between Gilmour, Knopfler and Clapton...depends on my mood and the phase of the moon as to which I'll say I like better.

I have seen Eric play live more than any other performer, a total of 13 times since 1975. The last time was the tour featured on his new DVD Another Car, Another Rider.

I have been lucky enough to see him in small club settings as well (less than 100 people in the place). Let him relax and jam and he is even better than you see in his more "polished" shows...

The man is amazing..

I saw some poll grouping somewhere in which those polled rated Clapton as the #1 overrated musician of all time; additionally, the same group rated 'Layla' as the greatest song of all time.

I enjoy the coked up Clapton of the past rather than the straight and narrow of the present.

At least he wasn't dressed as a duck.

yeah, i have that too. I love cream, i don't really dig much of his new stuff though. It's like SRV. I mean, he was great when he got sober, but i like his old stuff much better too.
