Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I find it kinda strange that not a lot of people in here are into the 'newer' Floyd and don't have an opinion on these albums.

(When I say 'newer', I used the term loosely )

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I agree with what you said about PULSE.

Unfortunately the production value of DSOT is terrible, thus, both albums, or videaos, are not worth my time.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

For the record (again) I think DSoT outshines PULSE by a country mile.

CN is better by far, Us and Them with Scott Page on the sax is amazing, SOYCD is perfect, video version of On The Turning Away is on my "best of Gilmour" list, One Slip live is quite cool.

And as I've said before they seem to have a lot more energy in DSoT than PULSE.

I've never understood the "production quality" issue that people have...I don't have any issues with the sound.

Plus it was my first Floyd album...so sentimental attachments too.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I don't understand what's wrong with the production either. The production is great. Too bad "One Slip" isn't on the CD though. I'm gonna have to wait for the DVD to hear that one live.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

You don't have a video player???

You might wait a while if you're holding out for a DVD.

We've been promised the DVD just about every year since.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

Oh yes, I have a VCR. I just prefer DVD so much more, that there's no point for me to go out and purchase the VHS cassette. I'd rather just wait for the DVD to be released. I can't remember where I said it, but it was one of my first posts (actually, might have been my first... it was about the Pompeii DVD which I'm also looking forward to), but I said that I was a digital whore. So, I'll sum things up...

Oh yes...I remember the "digital whore" comment. I was quite amused I believe.

You will, however, be waiting quite a while for a DSoT DVD methinks.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I dunno about that. My theory is they'll probably put Pulse and DSOT out simultaneously... or at least, fairly close together.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I'd like it as you say, but I doubt it.

Re: DSOT or Pulse?

I have just received this special press release straight from the desk of Steve O'Rourke. In the first ever APFFN scoop d'etat, I have decided to post it here verbatim before any other news source has a chance to report it. Exciting stuff!!

Ever since Pink Floyd Co 1987 Ltd's classic live concert video "The Delicate Sound Of Thunder" was released in 1989, many Pink Floyd Co 1987 Ltd fans have been wondering aloud 'When oh when will Pink Floyd Co 1987 Ltd release this brilliant document of the world's best-ever rock tour on DVD, a format that has yet to be invented?' Well ask no more!

Finally, on 23 March 2004, "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" will be released as an extremely limited, numbered, scented, special deluxe edition collector's director's cut DVD. It comes with a free bonus billboard-sized group photograph of everyone involved with the production of this tour, from David Gilmour circa 1987 to David Gilmour circa 2003 to all 506 session musicians that played on A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

This all-stops-pulled, no-holds-barred, every-man-for-himself seventeen-disc set includes a performance from each of the 199 dates of the "Momentary Lapse" tour, most of which are filmed from the very furthest point from the stage in the venue for added realism.

Not only is this scrumptious package fun, it's also environmentally conscious. Each "Delicate Sound of Thunder" set is
Carbon Neutral, which means that for every tonne of greenhouse gases produced in the making and shipping of it, an environmental lobbyist is brutally garrotted with a guitar string.

The DVDs are packaged in one of the articulated lorries actually used on the tour, and each comes with its own small army of roadies to unload and install the set in your home, party all night, make a mess on your carpet, and vanish the next morning.

You'll also find a complete set of tour souvenirs, like retarded "first in space" t-shirts and glow sticks that leak toxic radioactive waste when they come into contact with human skin. There is also a novelty beer-dispensing hat with the Atom Heart Mother cow on the front.

In order to enjoy this feast for the eyes, ears and buttocks, one must be completely and hopelessly smashed to pieces. So instead of using those styrofoam peanuts as packing material, we used hashish.

To top it all off, the first ten pre-orders for this set will also receive a framed, autographed, chemically preserved 14-ounce piece of Scott Page's voluminous mullet. Don't delay! Order now.

Suggested retail price pending. Exploding bed sold separately.
