When you say "the old episodes," how old are we talking?

Re: The Simpsons Thread

1-3 season. mostly. it's the cheesy humor of the early nineties. like "don't have a cow man", used to sound rebellious, hahahahahah

Re: The Simpsons Thread

No way man the old episodes are the best. If anything I hate the new ones. Back in the old shows the humour was real and was able to really make fun of the way families operate. Homer was still loveable despite being thick. The way I see it, seasons 1-4 are the absolute best, 5-8 are funny thought sometimes tedious, and almost everything after that is downright horrible. I don't even watch the new shows anymore, it's just so sad to see a once great show destroyed.

No it hasn't. Check it out yourself: http://www.jumptheshark.com/never.htm

As long as they keep their freshness, they will never jump the shark!

Re: The Simpsons Thread

What freshness?

And isn't it all opinion?

And really, aren't the present writers just sadly trying to imitate the genius of the earlier writers?

Sprng break episode? Is that the one where Peter Frampton has a deflated pig in his concert? Or was that Homerpalooza? Sorry, I haven't watched the new episodes since 1998.

Re: The Simpsons Thread

The Simpsons still make me laugh, but it is true that the old episodes had a special 'we're new and different' charm, but what do you expect? You can't be new and different all the way, coz then new becomes old, and different becomes something stablished, so then it's not different anymore, it's a part of culture waiting for something else to come and say 'we're different, compared to this'. When something gets old, there's not much to do to keep it fresh.
It's like having a piece of old bread; you can try to disguise it to make it look fresh or yummy, but it's still old...
Does that make any sense?

(I watch Family Guy now).
