I thought Patrick Duffy's Man from Atlantis was better, but then I would.

The Black community in the south rioted for almost three days after Martin Luther King Jr. was assinanted, doesn't anyone study history anymore?
I knew you were referring to MLK's assasination and the riots that followed. I'm kind of surprised though that whites actually feared their own neighbors and friends. I didn't know the riots were aimed at hurting whites, that comes as news to me...

Anyways, I wouldn't say the black community rioted, I would say segments of the black community rioted.

On topic, I remember when Pac Man was the best video game on Atari.

Young people are more hip, and they have less of a tendancy of breaking thier hip.

You're right, that is probably a more accurate statement. But I think the parents were just being very cautious. I know a lot of our neighbors that were black still came over and were their usual kind selves, just very upset (grieving) over MLK.

On the other hand our little town had a very active and outspoken KKK chapter (This was 1968 Mississippi) and I am certain those folks were more than a tad bit paranoid......

I'm with Thorin. I don't remember 8-tracks or the first time Star Wars was aired on TV. I am old enough to remember buying records as a kid, and I remember when my parents got their first cd player (and now everyone seems to have several cd players). I do also remember Atari, and I remember the first Nintendo coming out when I was kid. I also remember when we first got registers with scanner/scales in the family supermarket when I was four. When I first started working at the store, all the computers were on DOS. I take credit for the current use of modern PC's at work.

I also remember the verdict of the OJ trial when I was in seventh grade. Everyone was late to class and came back and told us the jury found him innocent. I also remember where I was on 9/11/01. It was my first year of college, second week of school. I was late to class, and found out what happened when I got there. School was closed for the rest of that day and I think the next. I went out to the car and heard all the details on an AM station from New York city. That was spooky.

I do distinctly remember one night in the early '60's (1964 I think) sitting in front of the B/W tv. My Dad was out of town on work and my Mom was quite excited that he wasn't there so we could watch the show...."he woudn't like it" she said...

I saw the Beatles first appearance on Ed Sullivan.

I saw that too. About February 1964.

About that same time I listened on the radio to the young, brash newcomer Cassius Clay beat Sonny Liston for the Heavyweight Crown.

Two other great Ed Sullivan moments that I saw -- The Stones (weaseling out) singing "Lets Spend some time Together" and the Doors defying Mr. Ed by Jim fairly shouting "Girl we couldn't get much HIIIIIIIGHER"
