Rumors of Tour 2003 put to rest

Okay Floyd fans. David Gilmour has announced that he is now officially too old to do the tour gig anymore. His voice is cracking on high notes, and therefore, Pink Floyd has laid to rest. They've given us there best, and for those who wish to see them live for the first time, well, you have there memories. I recommend Pulse for the best of Pink Floyd. Sorry to disappoint those who didn't know.

Dave said

Gilmour said that in an interview with BBC. He also posted those words in an interview with a London Magazine. The rest of the group expressed interest in touring. But Dave is holding the rest of the group back.

Ages ago?

If less than 6 months ago is ages to you, then perhaps you can enlighten us with your magical wisdom. Like I said, Pink Floyd is retired. Do you honestly think Dave has it in him? When Dave played in London 6 months ago, he couldn't hit one high note. He looked tired and was about 60 pounds overweight.

David Gilmour: Have PF split up?
This is a transcript (by Simon W.) of an interview with David Gilmour, from Mojo magazine, released on October 16th, 2001, in the UK.

Have PF split up?

“I cant see anything in the near future myself, I’ve been enjoying doing
things on a different scale, downsizing a bit. I feel no need to do a
big tour again-if ever, at my hugely advanced age.”

Please note the date of this interview and feel free to share my 'magical wisdom'!!

The rest of the interview is here

If the David Gilmour In Concert DVD is what you're referring to, then you're kinda wrong. Sure his voice is aging, but he did sing many high notes that night. "Je Crois Entendre Encore" is fairly high. The only obvious note he never sang was the the high B flat in the chorus of SOYCD (which Roger can still do, I might add!! *cough* *cough*). If you want to argue with me you can, but I sing myself and I know enough about singing to know Dave is still an okay singer.

Re: Rumors of Tour 2003 put to rest

I agree with Tower of Faith. Dave's voice is still good. We should wait for his album.

Re: Rumors of Tour 2003 put to rest

I agree, David (not 'Dave') could still pull something...but I'm under the impression that Roger can still pull so much more, he seems less worn out. He'll probably keep touring.
Or maybe I'm just hoping, coz he came here last year and I missed it on account of his TERRIBLE timing! -I had just gone back to college-...I wanna go back in time, and kick my own ass)
