Meaning the Floyds hammers

Could someone give me the true meaning behind Floyds hammers. I have read alot of posts about how his hammers are using for white power but none that actually state what he meant by the use of them. Is it a warning for something?

Re: Meaning the Floyds hammers

I assumed they were just a cartoonish recreation of goose-stepping Nazi soldiers on parade, a prop for that part of the story.

If there is a deeper meaning, I don't know it.

The crossed hammers do resemble the Swastika.

I could give you my opinion on the matter, but in an appropiate forum. This is a forum reserved for questions about the forum itself.

Talking my position on the hammers

i've always had a problem with drugs. so my interpretation of the crossing hammers is much different. drugs and depression. both lead to another and assist each other, hence the crossing of the two hammers. and during the depths of the drug problem, it always felt like there were two hammers constantly banging on my brain. it felt like they were all gathered in my physical body to destroy me. so i don't think people should misinterpret it for some amorphous theory of the two hammers being a recreation of the symbol of naziism. the scene where the main character stands up in front of a crowd - clearly a bunch of druggies just further proves that the two hammers were symbols of drug addiction. of course i shouldn't down a bunch of neo-nazis for their interpretation because i have my own, but i don't think that anyone should down pink floyd for the idea by stating such a doggerel idea. because pink floyd is SO NOT doggerel.
