Drum Corps

I'm very active with music at my school, and i play snare in our marching band, and i plan on joining a drum corps next year, probably Jersey Surf, a division 2 corps. Maybe someday I'll do a division 1 corps if I have the time. But anyway, I was just wondering if anyone here is into drum corps at all. I know DCI (drum corps international) is really only popular in the United States so people from other countries might not even be aware that there are competitive drum corps.

If you haven't ever seen or heard a drum corps show, you are really missing out. The music is as powerful as that of an orchestra and the musicians are running their asses around doing amazing drill at the same time. Its remarkable to watch. Well, I guess thats all I have to say about it for my introduction...I hope somebody else is into corps...

I can appreciate the effort and talent it takes to do the drum corps thing. But for me, the marching band stuff is what you have to endure before the 2nd half of the football game starts.

Somehow, listening to a brass band play "Climb Every Mountain"
just doesn't lube my bearings.

But, goofball, I'm glad you love it, and there are many, many who do enjoy it. Here they annually have a big meet called "Drums Along The Rockies" where lots of top drum corps from around the Country come and compete. It's a big event.

So don't mind me.

ahh thats cool i know exactly what your talking about with the "drums along the rockies" thing...

btw a marching band is nothing like a drum corps...marching bands are pathetic compared to a drum corps, and i know from personal experience that they aren't any more as thrilled about playing halftime at football games as you are about watching them lol. Our school's administration are such assholes about it too...they actually tried to make our band play PRE-GAME at an away playoff game for our football team instead of going to our championship competition...thats what happens when our superintendent is a former marine and ex-football coach who hates all arts. sorry i went off on a tangent there, but i hate him so much!!!

Trying to debate with Gerald is foolish in the extreme, just throw random insults at him, it always works for me.
