Yes, it's brilliant poetry, but it's my understanding that Mr. Waters didn't write it. Is this fact?

Roger actually based some of the words to Set The Controls on the poetry of Chinese poet Li Shang-Yin, who wrote: "Watch little by little the night turn around", "Countless the twigs which tremble in the dawn", and "One inch of love is an inch of ashes".
