http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/t3296.html You really like that song, ehh? I would agree the Pompeii version is probably best. I thought Roger's version in ITF Live was pretty good, too.

I think Roger developed it very well on his tours.

it makes me think that everyone in the world considers the Beatles as being an amazing physcadelic, progressive influence on the world and while they were writing filler Roger came up with this genius. It's quite amazing on Saucerful, although my remastered C.D has a jump half way through.Ummagumma version is amazing as is the Pompei version.I remember my sisters friend watching it 10 years ago and being memerised by the backgrounds as Rick did his keyboard work. She had no idea!Yet Roger ruined it for me as he introduced the horn section in his latest tour.Christ, even my girlfiend picked up on that, and was disappointed, yet, the background film was great.

SUPERB song. Fun to play, too. Accessible to even the not-so-distinguished guitarists like myself.

I was recently on a road trip with my father and uncle. While in range of an absolutely kick ass radio station from New York City, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun came on. Within the first few seconds of the song, I knew what it was, of course. It is truly enchanting. I rambled off to my uncle the name of the song (he's a fan of Floyd from the '70's) and the year of the song. When the DJ came back on, he of course repeated what I had just rambled off. And now I am rambling and forget my original point. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun is just awsome, bottom line.

That story was like two butterflies. Which weren't butterflies at all, but rather stories.

That story was from my lunch box of memories. The sort of thing you keep up in the attic, full of old photographs and memorabillia. Some day, I'm going to leave my lunch box open, out in the front yard, for everyone to see. Then I will put it back up in the attic, never to be shown again. Clickety-clack, Typing Away
