| Re: techno rap Ummmmmm.......3 points 1) Country and Blues did not combine to form rock. Rock evolved from Blues, Country evolved from traditional Amreican folk and bluegrass music. 2) Techno and Rap are current sub cultures of Pop music. Pop has always been around and has had a broad appeal to the unwashed masses. The only thing consistant about Pop is it's conistant change. It swings in the breeze with fashion and trend. Benny Goodman was pop in the 40's, Perrry Como in the 50's 1910 Fruit Gum Company in the 60's........ It's called Pop because it's popular for a period. 3) Trends change, sooner or later music changes to reflect our culture and current values (or lack therof). Rock has a much broader base of appeal world wide and deals with themes and issued that many cultures can relate too, love, war, teen angst, more basic human emotional issues. Rap and techno have a more specific cultural appeal in first world countries, Without the cultural framework in which the context is given, it really has no staying power. A youn man Soweto South Africa would easily be able to understand "All You Need Is Love", "Love Reign O'er Me", or "Comfortably Numb". He may have a difficult time getting a Grasp on , "Goin Back to Calli"....I don't think there is a lot of Bling Bling in his world. Just my thoughts.
