"Shant not" is a double negative, hence meaning "shall".

That's not a double negative, it's merely a reitteration, however one of the words is obsolete since they have the same meaning.

A Series of Unfortunate Posts: Amendment: 0427h. 16/08/03.

Having taken stock of my life recently during many a long walk, I've decided that NNJ was more right than he realized in his tough-as-nails sarcastic post a few pages back in this thread. I know he was joking, but he shouldn't have been. Anyway, I'm going to bugger off for a while. Some of you will be happy to hear that I'm going to attempt civility; others will be let down, for sociopsychological reasons that I'd rather not get into right now. If any mods find an inordinate amount of spare time on their hands, they may feel free to delete virtually every one of my previous 8700+ posts. I don't know where my head has been for the last few years.

I realize that, given the nature of my humor in the past, many (all) of you may take this to be yet another razor-esque doublespeak-lined joke designed to trip up all but the most wary-- As a matter of fact, many of those posts I made previously were not intended to be taken as such, but rather had their crafty cleverness assigned to them by Byron and Shane and the like: Those friends of mine who estimated my wit to be above and beyond what it really is. Please take this post only as what it appears to be.

Basically I'd like to say that I'm sorry to anyone whom I've ever offended, be it by humor, taste, or style. Particularly: Driven, Sydney, Mother, and PearlWaters. There are dozens more, I'm sure, but these were at the forefront of my mind as of this writing. Suffice to say that I will henceforth attempt to keep such from happening again.
