Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

Listening to echoes is a 23 minute orgasm. That is the only way to put it. I'm actually thinking about learning guitar again just so I can play floyd. I really want to play it.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

Hey,

You put it way too well, Only A Stranger At Home! I always felt Echoes was the supreme progressive rock masterpiece. Ever tried the synch with 2001? I still have to do that, but I've heard it's awesome!!!

I have the same feelings about learning to play the guitar. At least the basic chords, so I can strum a little in my room and feel even more connected to the music...

Anyway, what intrigues most about Floyd is that in a way all of their albums are completely different from one another. It goes from psychedelic, to progressive, to whatever-you-call-it rock, and still, everything is just incredibly great, you know?

Shine on!

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

Yea, i need to try that Synch too.

Echoes is awesome man, great description.

I read something that Andrew Lloyd Webber made the music in '71 that would later be used in "Phantom of the Opera" - i donno the two sound alot alike at that one part.

I like Echoes too because it has that old feel too it (the sound @ the beginning) but is soo advanced as well....awesome stuff.

Hey i thought this tread was on Dark Side of the Moon!!!

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

Dark Side of the Moon, Echoes, all Pink Floyd. So does it really matter? The synch of Echoes and 2001: A Space Odyssey is an awesome synch. It works really well. Plus, 2001 is an incredible movie. Getting to watch 2001 and listen to Echoes at same time: Priceless.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

Playing guitar along with floyd is one of my favourite hobbies! You all must learn some chords and check it out. The vocal part of echoes is an excellent one to start with.
--easy chords and only about 8 of them.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

I hear ya !
I have many friends who play instruments but are bored playing Floyd.
Can you imagine?
I should check out more keyboard stuff- it's just guitar and bass are my favorite.

Can you read music or just chords and tabs?

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

I think everyone can agree that reading and playing music along with Pink Floyd is awesome. Others have lists, so I guess I'll add mine.

Keyboards:
Shine on you Crazy Diamond (pts. 1-9)
Welcome to the Machine
Have a Cigar
Wish You Were Here

Bass Guitar:
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
Let There Be More Light
Money
Wish You Were Here
One of these Days

Guitar:
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

I play Bass in a band, so I don't play the guitar all that often. I also read music, showing how musically literate Pink Floyd fans are. That doesn't make much sense though, as David Gilmour just learned how to read music a little while ago.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

I may not know how to play anything, but I know the words. Of course I wont type all the songs I know, because I would be here all night. If you want to know the soongs I know, go to the discography and look up every album. Just a little bit of subtle humor for ya.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon?

I think most Floydians know the lyrics to all the songs to the albums they own. Even if you don't try to, you can't help but learn all the words of their entrancing voices.
