White Stripes

hey, so what do you guys think of the white stripes? i bought 'elephant' today and i was very impressed, Jack White has a unique style that's different than what anyone else is doing right now.

It's impressive to find anyone who has a unique style these days.

I think white stripes make me look heavier especially horizontal ones, so i try to avoid wearing them...

They're brilliant, and also quite great in concert. I must admit to liking White Blood Cells better than Elephant, just because the rawness of it appeals to me. Elephant seems a bit more, well, polished. Not in a bad way, mind you.

really though, i've only heard a few white stripes songs on the radio so I really don't have much of an opinion about them. How many albums do they have and which would you recommend to get first?

Seven Nation Army is a pretty kewl song.

well this is the first album of theirs i've heard. it says it was recorded on an 8 track reel to reel, and that no computers were used in the writing, recording, or mastering of the album. doens't sound to polished to me, but then again i haven't heard white blood cells

They have four at the time of writing: White Stripes, De Stijl, White Blood Cells, and Elephant. I, personally, would recommend to get White Blood Cells first, because it's not so much a blues based record as the one before it, or such a mixed-bag as the record following it.

Elephant was indeed recorded on 8-track tape machines, and also mixed to quarter-inch 2-track tape. It sounds a bit more polished, I believe, because Elephant was recorded in something like ten days while White Blood Cells was layed down entirely in three.

are they brother and sister? i've read a lot of different things about htat. something about ex's or something. but i dont know

They are exes. And I love White Blood Cells, the only album I have heard.
