Well, the guy on the far right is Andy Timmons, and I've just discovered his genius. He can play any style, any genre, and do it brilliantly. I can't quit listening to his album, That was then, this is now.

Bizarrely, when I clicked on the link in the notifier email, it brought me to that post, stratters! Timmons is incredible, every time I listen to him, I can't believe he's not better known.

Eric Johnson is undoubtedly a genius, but he gets the recognition he deserves among the music community.

Re: Underrated/overlooked/unappreciated guitarist

Problem with Timmons is that he's the same sig ibanez shitgear guy. What makes Johnson so fantastic is his vintage gear, and extremly pure line. But id take Timmons any day insted of Vai and Satch. Allthough i havent heard alot from Satch, and less from Timmons. My experience with Timmons is that he plays the climax too long. He seems to hold the ultimate climax so long that it makes me tired. And tbh, i havent found any songs by Timmons that i like enough to relisten... Maybe a tip is needed...Stratters?

Btw, Johnson is still warming up for Satch. Thats just crazy.

Re: Underrated/overlooked/unappreciated guitarist

I think we're talking about playing proficiency here, not whether or not Ablaze approves of their style.

I'm not stratters, but I would recommend Cry For You and Groove Or Die as examples of his prowess.

...hell, just about all of "That Was Then...." album.

Headed For The Ditch shows off his rockabilly/jazz skills.

Mumsie is probably more familiar with his catalog. I only have the one album.

Re: Underrated/overlooked/unappreciated guitarist

I've only got That Was Then, This Is Now and The Spoken & The Unspoken, but everything Stratters has listed is just awesome. I also love the live version of Cry For You on The Spoken & The Unspoken.

I hope I didn't give the impression that I was saying "You're wrong" or something along those lines, I just thought it was funny that they put him at #16. Also, Jack White at #17 and Kurt Cobain at #12. Rolling Stone sucks.

I know we're all thinking the same thing here: Cornelius Carnage from GWAR.
