Overcooked is good, no risk of salmonella poisoning.

Sadly, Roy apparently had a troubled life and hanged himself in 1988. He was called the "world's best unknown guitarist", a label which was then transferred to his protégé Danny Gatton, who, ironically, also ended up killing himself in 1994.

So, Fulghy, don't let anyone call you the "world's best unknown guitarist" -- even though you may be.

I'm off to track down some of Roy's work.
Only found out about Roy from Phil Manzaneras Planet Rock Series. Had to check him out with Dave himself recommending him. Wasn't dissapointed either

Well, the guy on the far right is Andy Timmons, and I've just discovered his genius. He can play any style, any genre, and do it brilliantly. I can't quit listening to his album, That was then, this is now.

Looks like David St. Hubbins

Andy Latimer is quality, as are Camel. He was asked to tour with Roger before Dave Kilminster got the gig if you didn't know (Obviously Botley is excluded!). Particulalry like the solos on Stationary Traveller and Summer Lightning

Hadn't read this far before my previous post

Ritchie Blackmore is class but I wouldn't say he was underrated/overlooked or unappreciated though

Re: Underrated/overlooked/unappreciated guitarist

I'd add Tom Verlaine from Television to the mix. His work on Marquee Moon is an obvious example of tasteful guitar.

Agreed, not really overlooked at all.

And have I mentioned Mikael Akerfeldt? Easily one of today's finest guitarists. What is especially impressive is his acoustic guitar work. Everyone should listen to Opeth's newest album, "Watershed."
