Lyric explanation for Us & Them

Anybody care to break it down and explain it line by line, or every few lines or so?

Why do you post here? I thought this forum could have been a place away from my normal IGN board posting... hopefully not all the posters are junk

I'm not sure what Roger meant with every line, but this song is basically Roger getting sick of war and violence, which helps you to get mad, which is the main idea of DSOTM. Welcome to the board Floydian GP BTW . Beware THEM.

Re: Lyric explanation for Us & Them

I only answered your question.

If you didn't want an honest answer why bother asking it?

Also, if you are so slow you can't figure out what the basic idea is behind a song that is pretty explicit, well, you deserve the mockery.

Unless you are 6 years old, in that case, my apologies.

Re: Lyric explanation for Us & Them

What NNJ said. It's not that ambiguous.

Us & Them is about 'war'. From war between nations to the personal war you have with that weasel trying to beat you to that last parking space.

One basic human characteristic is to separate into like groups, and then perceive others as the 'enemy'.

Roger is just lamenting this fact. In his Marxist fantasyland, these nasty traits would all be gone forever.

Even in my nonMarxist fantasyland, those traits would be nonexistent.
