| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands There is plenty of good music made today, you're just not listening. You say that you want new orginal music, but in truth the only thing that will make you happy is if bands make music exactly like 70's, thats what you like, you say that todays music is shit because it was not made in the 60-70's.

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands Not exactly. The new possibilities in making and recording music can make it better now than then. Of course I don't want the new music to sound like 70s. I quite like Radiohead and they've come near this with their lyrics and music. I think they're the prog rock of nowadays. But there just aren't any followers. No second Radiohead (at least what I know of). And still, wouldn't it be nice to have a band using just guitars, organ, piano, bass and drums instead of all the samples and techno beats? Note: I must say that I don't like heavy metal much, and the nu-metal and most of the new bands that are screaming the lyrics about destruction and have just attacking wall of guitar sound, fast drums and bass are annoying me.

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands The Smashing Pumpkins are kind of half Heavy Metal, half Floyd spinoff. I have a ROIO of one of their concerts, and some of it is OK. I mainly got it for the cover of the Who song, Join Together. |

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands It seems to me that some of you spend way too much time trying to compare musical eras. I think that there are quite a few good bands today, it just all depends on what you enjoy to listen too. |

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands Well, at least we can fit on the same plane on thinking the White Stripes are ok. You'd probably like it more than me, I just like that cool LEGO video. Though I've made better LEGO movies, but that's another story............. |

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands Well, maybe I went overboard saying the Pumpkins were a Floyd spinoff, but they pop in my head when I hear some of their stuff, like Tool. I don't think he's like Floyd at all. |

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands The Fact: There are no geniuses, just hard-working peope with a goal beyond everybody else's, and power of observation. The Issue: Creative process takes a lot of that hard work and power of observation. The Problem: Not everybody's willing to spend their lifes working hard and observing!!

| Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands That is why rich people are bad songwriters. You gotta be from the grimy streets of London or something to write anything really good. That's probably why Jethro Tull, The Beatles, and The Who got so famous. |
