the white stripes are totally original. it's not easy to slap a genre on them, they'r enot really punk, and they're not grunge or anything like that, they're just, the white stripes. they're gonna save rock, i can see it

Who cares, let rock die. It has produced way too much crap.

The White Stripes remind me of the Beatles, for some reason.

Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands

rock is immortal, so long as people listen to music with guitars, drums, keyboards, computers, whatever. people will listen to the old bands and learn how to play, how to rock, how to change things. The white stripes might save rock for the younger generation, just like nirvana did for mine, and someone else will save rock in another ten years.

Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands

The only way rock will be "saved" is if everyone listens to classic rock and all the kiddies and their friends make cover bands. At least they'll be playing good music.

That's a little narrow minded, don't you think?

Re: The Increasing Number Of Terrible Bands

Well, yeah, maybe a bit too drastic, but in my mind, there aren't really enough good bands to emulate these days. So maybe all we need is a rock savior with a fresh new sound and concepts. When I think about it, the first thing that pops into my head is Tool, but that is arguable.
