I think that "Jack", referred to the average person who has obtaining money a goal in life. Someone who is money-hungry, eh? The songs mainly about how money can corrupt one's personal principles. As for the speaking at the end, I don't think it was meant to mean anything. Maybe someone else can interpret it. Hope I've been some help to you, but it seems I haven't said anything you probably didn't know already.

I think in the end - the talking (..i didn't know i was drunk at that time) i some what reminiscent of the conflict that has arisen due to wealth, leading to "alchoholism" and such - it somehow seems to me as well that in the end this "jack" may have somehow looked past his problems and is in effect "breaking down his disguise" by talking about it.

"I'm alright Jack" was a common English phrase usually applied by the 'salt of the Earth' working class to the somewhat derided middle classes. It was most commonly used in the sixties to apply to anyone with money who appeared to spend it freely and selfishly with scant regard for the circumstances and/or feelings of maybe, the slightly more 'impecunious' members of society. Cheers, Mark

Good word usage, fixxy! Also interesting to explore is the concept of the increased (sex?) appeal money affords the newly rich social beast, particular the celebrated personality. "New car, caviar, four-star daydream, think I'll buy me a football (soccer) team." - The newfound luxuries available to the once not so well off. The rush of the new and flashy and showy, epitomised by the show of ostentatious wealth as the owner of a (preferably top league) football team. Mmmm, SEXY! Loadsamoney!, Byron

Re: Money-----help, for my music class Did you know that Kevin the gerbil (Roland Rats friend) had a hit with summer holiday in 1984. I don't know how that helps... Write something about how the song is a dissection of capatalism from one of the richest bands on earth

Re: Money-----help, for my music class I personally think the intro was totally plagiarised from the far superior "Are You Being Served" theme.

And Jack, is just some person, it could be anyone in particular. Just someone who is selfish. |
