Got it today...very good.

Not outstanding (like the Gilmour Live DVD)...but money well spent.

I just got this DVD today, and it's brilliant. Having seen one in the same series featuring the Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks, I knew this one would be great - and it certainly was. I like how they featured the proper concert film backdrops to the songs (which are rare indeed), and actually dug out the master tapes to mess around with. Even more awesome was actually seeing how they set up the Money tape loop (I didn't know they kept that damn thing!).

All four members of PF came off brilliantly; even Rog didn't seem all pessimistic and pissy, like he nearly always seems. For someone like myself (who is a musically technical person), this DVD kept me on the edge of my seat. (Dorky, I know.)

My only quibble was that they didn't discuss the techniques on 'Any Colour You Like' (or the song proper). I would have loved to have seen Dave actually play through the 700 series Leslie set up behind him.
I agree with Shane. I finally got it yesterday (yeah, I know I'm lazy). Really good stuff! I enjoyed the bits that have Alan Parsons or David Gilmour at the board where they are fading in and out the different tracks from the master tape.

I also enjoyed Rick's time in the limelight - hearing Roger talk glowingly about the music Rick wrote for 'Great Gig' and 'Us and Them'. And Rick talking about how he came up with the great chord progressions in the two songs.

Excellent!

Yup. I was really shocked to hear words of praise for Rick come from Roger's mouth. I also liked Rick's quote about 'Us and Them' - something to the effect of "Of all the songs I wrote with Roger, that is definitely my favorite."

It made me want to get those two guys on the same stage again...Nah! Quit dreaming, Brian.

I doubt you'll ever see those two sharing a stage--but this does at least mean they've got whatever resentments under control enough that they don't feel a need for constant mudslinging. Of course, I think Mr. Wright's been doing well in this way for a long time. As for Roger Waters...we shall see. This is a step in the right direction, but I have my doubts, of course.

And on the subject of the DVD, I definitely did appreciate the musical sections--particularly Mr. Wright's, because he not only played, he actually demonstrated and explained how he'd composed them. I think it was cool that he even contrasted the original sequences with alternatives he could've used--we get so used to hearing stuff like "Breathe" or "Us and Them" that this also helps to draw out the uniqueness of what he created. I'd say more than any of them, Mr. Wright seemed to want to teach his music.

The other two Floyds were pretty good, too. I think they were informative and I also think Mr. Gilmour's interview came off better than usual (much better language this time around). As for Mr. Waters...not bad, but then most of that from him we've heard a million times before, and some of it we didn't need to hear (like him singing Money).

But overall, I most definitely do not regret purchasing this DVD.
