Unfortunate news about RWr's first solo album

It's an awful shame, but early this year, Richard Wright's first solo album was discontinued, and can no longer be obtained from most places, including Amazon.

This is very sad...Mr. Wright's work is quite badly underrated, and this does not help him, OR the fans who want to hear his work.

We don't want to flood his e-mail box lest he get annoyed with Mr. Wright's fans, but the contact is Mr. Eddie Wilner at One Way Records, at the following address: eddwil@aent.com

Perhaps if a few people could write to find out what the current status of this issue may be (if there are any plans to start printing it again), it might help out a bit.

Do note, when I made initial enquiries, I found out that the problem was at One Way's parent company, Sony Music. They are the ones that revoked One Way's rights to the masters. Therefore, to those who write, be polite to Mr. Wilner and recognize the fact that he is NOT the one who caused this problem.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to do this, and if you get an answer, please do let us all know what that response is.

Aw, that Rick thing is too bad! (I like him, you know)
Not much I can do from here, I can't even get his albums, to begin with. But you've got my support, anyway.

LOL, I can certainly see your opinion of him from your avatar! I'll agree that's a very flattering shot of him.

By the way, you probably CAN get Broken China on Amazon, for a decent price new or used. Just run a search and you should find it. I do understand if ordering over the Internet is a problem for you...although Amazon does accept checks and money orders, I know that can be a hassle.

Anyway, it's always good to know Mr. Wright has supporters out there.

Hey, F-W, howyadoin? Nice to see you back.

I just checked Ebay. There is one copy of Wet Dream and 2 copies of Broken China up for grabs right now.

I'm certain anyone interested in getting one of those albums shouldn't have any problems if they check Ebay regularly and have a bit of patience.

Aww...thats too bad. I've never heard either of Rick's solo albums but now I'll give it a try. Did he write alot of what is on The Division Bell? That's a good album, I can relate to alot of it. I wouldn't mind learning more about Rick's stuff...I don't know too much about his material though.

On TDB, Mr. Wright has the following credits:

Cluster One (Music: Wright/Gilmour)
What Do You Want from Me (Music: Gilmour/Wright)
Marooned (Music: Wright/Gilmour)
Wearing the Inside Out (Music: Wright)
Keep Talking (Music: Gilmour/Wright)

Of those, Wearing the Inside Out will both lyrically and musically give you the general idea of what to expect on Broken China. The same team worked on BC.

And Wing'd Icarus...yeah, it shocked me when I first found it out awhile ago. What's sadder is that it looked like I was one of the only people to even notice it, when it first happened. I think this is a sign of how the "Machine" treats those who aren't "pop idols". :-/

Or maybe each was their own!
I know I'm here quite regularly but even I have to sleep sometime. And go to work. And chastise the kids. And pleasure the wife. And eat. And climb hills. And stuff.

Hey, Floyd Wright, I'm glad you're back, although I registered just after you left. I'm a big fan of Rick, I heard about you in my introductionary thread ("where's FloydWright when you need?" as somebody posted). Thank you for informing us about that problem, however I was lucky to get the OneWay Records copy of Wet Dream about two years earlier in a local shop. I have not seen that album more than five times afterwards.
