i just downloaded the video cause after you said that i decided i had to see it, and i think it makes everything so much more sad. like its all so depressing and its crazy how controversial everything is because everyone has their own way of thinking about what happened and waht that song is really about and its just so sad that people just look back and dont really care. like what dimikor said about how it was the end of him, its sad that there had to be an end to him.

I agree with Cheriberi. Syd was losing himself and the song is kind of a "wish I were here"... I think it's quite disturbing, actually.

Poor Syd...should have kept him away from Storm and his buddies. Has anyone here read the book "Saucerful Of Secrets"?

His buddies used to put acid in his tea without him knowing it...all kinds of stuff like that. I am guessing he probably would have went mad anyway but I'm sure all the acid he injested didn't help...kind of put him over the edge if you will.

Saucer Full

I am reading Saucer Full of Secrets now. I think that Lost in the Woods better portrays the senselessness of what happened with Syd and drugs. About the only thing that is fortunate is that he at least escaped with his life. Not so for Jimi, Jim and Janis.

Jugband Blues is probably the only Syd song I really like.

I agree! There are a lot of nice Syd songs. I love Dark Globe, Dominoes, Paintbox. Get HYGIY if you can. I think that you will develop a better understanding of Syd and his music.

I'm shocked you couldn't find it. My local Virgin had all of Barret's albums both on CD and vinyl.

thats just not fair. i cant find it anywhere at all. i've been going back to two of the used cd stores like twice or three times a week hoping they get it in. the guy at one of them said he sold a Barrett box-set a couple days before i had come looking for it the first time. they like know me there now, i hope if i become friends with them they'll give it to me for cheaper
